Noun (countable); plural: sycophants
Sycophant
IPA /ˈsɪkəfænt/
A person who flatters someone powerful or influential in order to gain favour or an advantage. Sycophant is a strongly critical word; ordinary kindness, respect or sincere praise does not by itself make someone a sycophant.
