Sentence formatter

Tidy a sentence

Tidy spacing, capitalise the first letter and add ending punctuation. Review the result yourself.

Use one statement at a time. This applies simple formatting rules; it does not check grammar, spelling or meaning. Choose a question mark or exclamation mark yourself when needed.

Up to 2,000 characters. Your original text stays unchanged.

Formatting options

Example: “i enjoy reading” becomes “I enjoy reading.” Incomplete endings with a comma, colon, semicolon or dash are kept for you to finish.

This activity runs in your browser. Drafts are not saved; copy anything you want to keep before leaving.

Pronunciation

Open pronunciation playback. Listen, then repeat the word or phrase.

Word Counter

Check the length of a paragraph, email or practice response as you write.

The counter works in your browser and does not save your text. Copy anything you want to keep before leaving.

How the counts work

Words include numbers. Contractions such as “don't” and hyphenated words such as “well-known” count as one word. Punctuation on its own does not count.

Characters include spaces and line breaks. Some older browsers may count a multi-part emoji as more than one character.

Sentence totals are rough estimates based on full stops, question marks, exclamation marks and line breaks. An unfinished line also counts. Abbreviations, ellipses and quoted speech can affect the total. This tool does not check grammar.

Conversation Drills

Open conversation practice for guided everyday exchanges, or use the Role-Play prompts in the daily challenge.
