📘 Used to talk about actions that happened and finished in the past.

🔰 Beginner Level

What is Past Simple?
The Past Simple describes completed actions in the past.

🔹 Sentence Structure:

• Positive: Subject + past verb
  Example: I walked to school.
• Negative: Subject + did not + base verb
  Example: She did not eat lunch.
• Question: Did + subject + base verb
  Example: Did you go there?

🔹 Regular vs. Irregular Verbs

• Regular: Add -ed → play → played, clean → cleaned
• Irregular: Change form → go → went, eat → ate

✍️ Practice:

Fill in the blanks:

1. I (watch) TV yesterday → I watched TV yesterday.
2. They (go) to the park → They went to the park.

🟡 Intermediate Level

When to Use Past Simple:

• ✅ For completed actions: I met him yesterday.
• ✅ For past sequences: I woke up, brushed, and left.
• ✅ For past durations: He lived there for 3 years.

🔹 Time Expressions:

• yesterday
• last week/month/year
• two days ago
• in 2020

🧪 Error Fixing:

1. ❌ She go to school yesterday → ✅ She went to school yesterday
2. ❌ Did you ate dinner? → ✅ Did you eat dinner?

🗣️ Mini Conversation:

A: What did you do last weekend?
B: I visited my grandparents and watched a movie.

🔵 Advanced Level

Subtle Uses of Past Simple:

• Reported Speech: She said she went home.
• Conditionals: If I won the lottery, I’d travel.
• Contrast: I asked for help, but no one listened.

• think → thought
• bring → brought
• break → broke
• win → won
• lose → lost
